Ways to Use Natural Fall Decor
Natural Fall decor can be used all over in your home decor, both inside and outside. It can be used in displays, vases, containers and baskets.
Where to Find Natural Fall Decor
If you happen to live in a place where you can explore the outdoors, natural Fall decor can be very easy to find and very inexpensive too. (Don’t worry if this isn’t a possibility for you, there are other options that’ll I’ll explain later:)
Check out the beautiful leaves and branches in the back yard, take a walk in the outdoors and collect Fall foliage along the trails or fields. Look at the flowers growing in your yard and flowerbeds.
Another great place to find natural fall decor is all a local farmer’s market, flower shop, pumpkin patch or flower u-pick.
Don’t worry if you live in a place where you’re not able to go outside and pick Fall foliage, it’s always an option to use dried or artificial Fall decor that can look very realistic. These can be found at a local craft or home decor store.
Fall Nature Inspiration
Here are four pretty Fall nature inspired decor items to bring into your home.
- Pumpkins
- Wheat
- Leaves and tree branches
- Fall flowers
Pumpkins
What’s there not to love about pumpkins in the fall…. especially now that there are so many colours and varieties to choose from. If you are not a fan of orange pumpkins, there are white, blue, green and yellow to pick from and add into the fall decor.
Pumpkins look great displayed outside on the front porch or entrance or inside among other fall decor. Both real and artificial pumpkins come in many different sizes. They are easy to display and look adorable on shelves, tables and counters or in containers or baskets.
The grocery store and farmer’s market are both great places to buy a fresh pumpkin. If you are really lucky to have a local u-pick pumpkin patch, you may be able to pick the pumpkins yourself. You can buy artificial pumpkins at Micheals, Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, Homesense or most home decor stores during the fall season.
Wheat
Since I live right in the middle of farmland communities, I really couldn’t not add this one. Wheat is a great way to bring a hint of fall nature into your home. It often symbolizes fall and harvest time.
Wheat can be added to fall flower arrangements, wreaths or used alone displayed in a vase or basket. It’s golden colour really does looks so pretty tucked in with almost all Fall decor.
If you own a wheat field or know a local farmer, pick some stems for Fall. If you don’t live anywhere near this kind of thing, the local craft and home decor stores should carry dried wheat bundles. Micheals had some very realistic looking wheat in their floral section this fall.
Leaves and Tree Branches
Leaves in all their beautiful fall colours are another great way to pull that hint of Fall nature into your home. Most of us live with trees around us and they turn such pretty shades in the Fall.
Here are a couple ways to use leaves. Fall leaves look so neat when they are pressed and framed into awesome art pieces. The leaves can also be left on the branches and stems, picked and placed in vases or pretty containers.
Look for different kinds of trees that have different colours and shapes of leaves on them. I have a maple tree that turns a beautiful colour of deep red. My green ash trees turn a pretty colour of yellow. Orange leaves are another popular Fall leaf colour.
Fall Flowers
Fall flowers are a beautiful way to bring a hint of fall nature into your home. Whether they are real fresh flowers, dried or artificial flowers, they look so pretty displayed throughout the home.
Mums and sunflowers are a couple Fall flowers that come to mind right away for me. Mums come in an abundance of pretty fall shades like, deep yellow, burnt orange, purple, pink and red. They are usually blooming all at once in a pot.
Sunflowers are such a pretty fall flower and they come in other colours now too beside the common yellow colour. Look for a burgundy or cream colour. Pick some fresh or using artificial stems, they look great displayed in a vase, jar or basket.
Be Inspired With Fall Nature
I hope that these tips for bringing a hint of Fall nature into your home with inspire you with your Fall decorating. Most of these natural elements are easy to find (even if it means buying artificial:) and are relatively inexpensive.
Head outdoors where you live and see what beautiful Fall natural decor you can find close by.
Secondly, check out a local farmer’s market or flower market to buy fresh flowers or pumpkins picked from a nearby patch.
Lastly head to a home decor store or craft store like Michaels https://canada.michaels.com/ or Hobby Lobby https://www.hobbylobby.com/ which have an abundance of beautiful stems and flowers for Fall. The great thing about buying artificial stems is that they last in your home decor year after year.
