Why Decorate for Spring?
It’s a great time of year to do a little spring cleaning, clear out any remaining winter decor and redecorate for spring.
Decorating for spring brings a freshness, brightness and an uplifting reminder to me of the warm, sunny days to come.
Maybe it’s because I live where it’s cold, we get lots of snow and have very long winters, but the arrival of spring is eagerly awaited and celebrated.
Easter celebrations also happen in the spring. Spring decor can easily work for Easter decor as well. This is done by simply adding in a few decor items with an Easter theme. But honestly the spring bunnies, chicks and pretty bird eggs lend itself really well for Easter decor too I think.

Why Thrifted Spring Decor?
I love to decorate but as many of us have experienced the price inflations of everything in the last while, I have definitely turned to thrifting a lot more. It’s a great way to save money, repurpose a used item or DIY a home project. Vintage and antiques pieces are very popular in home decor right now and thrifting is a great place to find them.
Where to Find Thrifted Home Decor?
Start will shopping at your local thrift store. Try visit once a week as new items are often being constantly put out on the shelves.
Antique stores, a yard sale and flea markets are some other places to look for great finds and good deals.
Online used buying sites are another shopping option as well. For instance there is Ebay https://www.ebay.com/ or Posh Market. https://poshmark.com/. Marketplace is another great option.

What Spring Decor Ideas to Look For?
Here are a few of my favourite things that I like to look for that make perfect spring home decor.
- Old vintage books
- faux flowers
- wicker baskets
- white pitchers
- wood pieces
- throw blanket
- Prints or Artwork
- Old Vintage Books

Old Vintage Books
Coffee table books have taken on a whole new trend in the vintage and antique decor world. Not only are old books displayed on the coffee table but stacked on shelves, tables and dressers. Whole vignettes are done with decor items and a stack of pretty vintage books. I like to look for books in the colours of my seasonal decor and or in neutral colours.

Faux Flowers
Faux flowers are an easy way to bring a pop of colour into your decor. Artificial greenery makes a great addition when added into the home decor as well. Thrift shops are a great place to look for artificial stems that can look very close to fresh flowers but be fairly inexpensive. Faux flowers and greenery can be added into vases, containers, baskets to give the fresh look of spring.

Wicker Baskets
Wicker baskets are another very popular decorating item and they work perfect for the spring season, filled with spring florals or throws. They come in all shapes, sizes and textures. I have found many awesome baskets thrifting over the years. They are very versatile and can be used throughout all the seasons.

White Pitchers
White pitchers, jars or crocks look so fresh used for spring decor and it’s really so simple to fill them with a stem of greenery or a bunch of beautiful tulips. Set them on a table or shelf and they make a perfect spring display.
When you are out thrifting try looking for some of these vases and containers in the glassware or home decor sections.

Wood Pieces
Check out wood pieces for thrifted spring decor such as wood cutouts, cutting boards, frames or wood trays. Wood cutouts in the shape of animals or even words look very pretty with a shelf display. Cutting boards in all shapes and sizes are used as a very popular display piece. They can stand up on a kitchen counter or be used flat as a display piece for decor items. Set a vase of flowers, candles, adorable sign and ornament on top for a beautiful vignette. Frames can be a painted as a DIY in a new colour that matches your home decor. Then add an adorable printable art or watercolour.

Throw Blankets
A light and airy throw blanket is the perfect spring touch to home decor. When out thrifting, don’t only look for throws but also for sheets, vintage quilts or blankets in a bright or pastel spring pattern. Use them folded or spread out on a sofa chair, blanket ladder or in a large wicker basket.

Prints or Artwork
Different kinds of artwork, canvases and frames can all be found thrifting and added in with spring decor. Look for botanical prints, butterflies, florals or nature prints. Think about whether you could change out the frame or even give it an easy DIY with paint. Frames can be painted in a new colour that will match your home decor. Then add an adorable printable art or watercolour.
How to Rejuvenate the Thrifted Items
You can give extra life to the thrifted items you have found simply by cleaning them up. Give all your items a fresh wash and clean.
If you love to DIY or craft, look for items that need a fresh coat of paint and this can totally give a decor item new life. Try a spray paint, chalk paint, milk paint or a fusion mineral paint.

What If I Can’t Find These Items Thrifting?
Thrifting is supposed to be fun and sometimes part of that fun is searching or shopping for the perfect item.
I want to add that if you live somewhere that doesn’t have good thrifting, you are unable to thrift right now for any reason or you just don’t have the time to spend on thrifting, it’s ok. Sometimes you just can’t find the right items at the right time either when you are thrifting. Not to worry as I will include some shopping links for similar items. This way you can still get a similar look decorating for spring or even just add in a few items that you couldn’t find while thrifting.
